Mine Infrastructure Area (MIA) Upgrade Electrical Design
PCE was engaged to provide the electrical design for a mine infrastructure area (MIA) upgrade at an open cut coal operation in North-East New South Wales.
Based on our client’s specification, PCE designed the electrical infrastructure incorporating LV reticulation, main switchboard and 22 new sub-boards. We conducted maximum demand calculations to AS3000 and utilised SKM Power*Tools to complete protection coordination and load flow studies; optimising underground cable and main generator sizing. PCE generated MIA Single Line Diagrams and switchboard GA’s, comms and services layouts, cable pit details and overall equipment and cable schedules.
Finally, utilising SKM Power*Tools, a site arc flash study was completed, including new infrastructure upgrade, to provide our client with incident energy data for the mine distribution network; complete with suggested arc flash labelling and new construction requirements for panel builders.
