Temporary Street Lighting Design
WestConnex M4 East
As part of the WestConnex M4 East project, street lighting for temporary road alignments was required for multiple stages in the design area. The project is approximately 6.5km in length and is projected to connect to the newly widened M4 via three lane twin motorways from Homebush to Haberfield. PCE were appointed by CPB Contactors, Samsung C&T and John Holland Joint Venture to conduct street lighting assessments for consecutive road alignment stages on Wattle Street and Parramatta Road.
Each stage required an assessment of the proposed design to AS/NZS 1158.1.1 and AS/NZS 3000. This assessment involved illuminance calculations of intersections, merges and transient carriageway changes, as well as luminance analysis of straight road and long bend sections. This project also demanded a design aspect for areas of non-conformance, for which PCE provided premeditated temporary luminaire placements.
